His Way, Our Way

I love covers.

I love Sinatra.

So I absolutely love iTunes' newest Sinatra album, His Way, Our Way. As a tribute to one of the greatest artists ever, iTunes released a one of a kind cover album. Unlikely artists to sing Sinatra such as Maroon 5, Seether and The Kooks give their own rendition of the songs that made Sinatra famous. A personal favorite is The Kooks' Stormy Weather and Joshua Radin's Fly Me to the Moon. Get it on iTunes noooowwww!!!!

Album Tracklist
  1. The Way You Look Tonight - Maroon 5
  2. One For My Baby - John Rich
  3. The Things We Did Last Summer - A Fine Frenzy
  4. Stormy Weather - The Kooks
  5. The Impossible Dream - The Republic Tigers
  6. Fly Me to The Moon - Joshua Radin
  7. Willow Weeps For Me - The Kills
  8. I'll Never Smile Again - Priscilla Ahn
  9. London By Night - Greg Gaswell
  10. I've Got You Under My Skin - Seether
  11. Somethin' Stupid - The Fashion
  12. Strangers in the Night - The Morning Benders

LOVES: The best cover of one of the best Michael Jackson songs. I love James Morrison.

WANTS: The Anna Sui SIGG bottle. It's obscenely priced and not available here so I'll just settle for the one I saw at R.O.X. I want a SIGG bottle!!! demmit.

Murakami Drama Time

Whenever I read books, I write down the passages that strike me. Because I am the greatest DQ (drama queen) of all time, these are the ones that I liked most from my Murakami books. I wasn't able to write down where the last two came from, but they are most likely from Sputnik Sweetheart.

A strange, terrific force unlike anything I've ever experienced is sprouting in my heart, taking root there, growing. Shut up behind my rib cage, my warm heart expands and contracts independent of my will- over and over.
-Norwegian Wood

But I didn't understand then. That I could hurt somebody so badly she would never recover. That a person can, just by living, damage another human being beyond repair.
- Wind Up Bird Chronicles

There are ways of dying that don't end in funerals. Types of death you can't smell.

Somewhere in his body-- perhaps in the marrow of his bones-- he would continue to feel her absence.

My Favorite Apps

There are literally millions of applications available in the Apple App Store but these are the top apps on my list.

1. Lose It
A very useful app for people who want to keep track of what they eat. It determines your daily calorie budget according to your weight, height and weight loss goals. In addition, it also has a complete list of exercises that you can use to subtract from your daily requirement.

See how cool it is? and see how I monstrously ate two cups of fried rice last Thursday? :)

2. iPlurk
Because I am such a plurk addict, I bought this so I could still plurk whenever I am not at home. I use this a lot because I don't like plurking from the computer.

3. Dictionary
It makes looking up words faster and a lot easier.

4. Brushes
Because I doodle and "draw when I'm not doing anything.

:p

5. Pocket God
One of the most entertaining apps from the store. You get to play God and toy with the inhabitants of your island. You can zap them with lightning, feed them to sharks, or have them eaten alive by ants.

Look at that poor guy on the right, he's being crushed by a dinosaur egg. Haha
Here's a screenshot of my some of my apps. The first page is filled with my internet things like email, plurk, twitter and facebook. :p

Some of my games.
Some ebooks, just in case I leave my book of the moment at home.

What about you? What apps do you like?

KitKat Time

... means break time. Get it?

PROCRASTINATION

I tend to procrastinate and today proved how bad it really was. I am currently working on two things at the same time and it's driving my me crazier than I already am. Translations and writing a grammar book is not that easy. I am having a harder time with the book though, because I have to use FOUR stories or passages for each grammar component. Does anyone know where I can find stories, articles etc that are suitable for S1 and S2 students? I'm running out of sources. Please let me know.

About procrastinating... I seem to find various ways to keep myself from working. For instance, I suddenly feel the urge to blog, upload and edit pictures or think of a yoga sequence. Perhaps the worst procrastination tactic I did today was labelling all my pens and highlighters. *facepalms* WHY?!

BOOKS

I am absolutely certain that Fully Booked is the bewitched. Once I get there, I enter into a full state of trance and I end up emerging with an unneccessary amount of books. Because of those trances, this is my current to read list:

Six out of the seven books of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse Series. I bought this because I love HBO's TrueBlood series. After watching the series and book 1, I can't help but think that Twilight was a poor copy of this work. I'm sorry Twilight fans.

I am currently reading Anansi Boys and enjoying it. It's hilarious and macabre at the same time. My kind of book. :p

The last book I read was Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About running. He is one of my favorite authors and this book is really entertaining. It reads like an autobiography/training guide. A must read for Murakami fans and runners.
WHAT STEPH TALKS ABOUT WHEN SHE TALKS ABOUT RUNNING

My thoughts are in no way as serious as Murakami's but I love running as much as he does. I've been running regularly for almost three years and I could say that it is something that I will never get tired of doing. I am addicted to the whole "cycle" of running. The warming up, setting your pace and then suddenly it's just you and your thoughts. The part where you finally reach your peak and that particular moment when you want to stop because you are so damn tired but you tell yourself that you have to keep going. Finally, the best part is when it ends and leaves you with a feeling of euphoria and accomplishment.

My current running goal is the 10km. I usually do 5km and 7.5km alternately so I THOUGHT that a 10km would be easy. It is not. It feels like it will take forever to cover the distance and I get hungry and thirsty in the middle of the run. During my last 10km attempt, my player died on me so I ended up entertaining myself and thought about...
  • My first beach trip was in Cebu. I was six years old and was fascinated by a starfish I found on the shore. I wanted to take it home but my mom wouldn't let me, so I snuck it in her bag. When we got home to Manila, my dad complained of a "foul" smell that was coming from somewhere. Turns out the starfish died in my mom's bag. Oops.
  • You can't be mean to people just because you can.
  • Pope Formosus - a pope whose succesor had him exhumed to put him on trial. (I saw the Pope Benedict on one of the tvs at the gym)
  • Why are people freaked out when I tell them I have a spiritual director?
  • Festooned, kibitzer, sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic
  • I tried to count backwards. cinco cientos to zero
  • I have a tendency to get inordinately attached to people. I'm a crazy, needy girl.
  • One of these days, I'll do the coke + mentos experiment.
